Supporting Wellbeing in Spiritual Leaders
I offer one-on-one support for pastors and spiritual leaders.
Spiritual leadership carries unique psychological and emotional burdens. I believe leaders can deeply benefit from spaces where they can be fully human—free from the inherent pressures a leadership role can carry. This is an intentional relational container designed for just that - a confidential, compassionate space in support of the individual, internal journey of the leader.
Sessions are depth-oriented and nurture reflection, self-awareness, and a greater sense of agency in navigating life’s difficulties, transitions, joys, and opportunities. We work gently with whatever is arising—grief, burnout, spiritual questions, identity shifts, integrity work. All of you is welcome.
I’m not affiliated with any religious denomination, though I come from a religious background and understand the structures, joys, and challenges of church life. I’ve chosen to offer an intentionally neutral space, not rooted in any particular religious or theological stance, because I believe that that kind of neutrality, paired with skillful relational presence, truly best supports individual healing, growth, and transformation.
When people are related to in this kind of way, without an agenda for them — they often discover authentic, generative aspects of themselves. That’s the heart of the work. My role is not to convince or direct, but to support your own self-led process. This includes allowing space for paradox, doubt, and complexity. These are essential aspects of the human experience, yet are often difficult for us to reckon with, and our systems, families, and faith communities can reflect this at times. It feels vital to nurture our capacity to be with them, especially now. Whether we acknowledge it or not, spiritual leaders are holding a lot of complexity. My years as a trauma therapist taught me the incredible value - and healing power - of the capacity to be present with complexity - both within ourselves and in the world.
I call this interpersonal work integrative coaching, and regard it as personal development work — a relational environment for working with inner experience, designed to support self-awareness and deeper connection with oneself. For leaders, like many who work in relational contexts, personal development is professional development. By default, this type of work can open up deeper connection in other areas of life - particularly, relationally and spiritually. Curiosity, non-judgment, and collaboration guide the process. It is trauma-informed, honors relationship to the sacred, can deeply support meaningful change.
This type of support may be a good fit if you:
Are a spiritual leader who holds a lot for others but rarely has space to be held yourself
You want to explore inner conflicts in a spacious, non-judgmental, non-pathologizing way
Are interested in deepening your relationship with yourself
Want to do personal or professional development work from the inside out
A Trauma-Informed Approach
I work from a trauma-informed perspective. While these sessions are not psychotherapy, my decade-plus of experience as a mental health clinician is part of the background I bring to the work. My training and ongoing work in the NeuroAffective Relational Model (NARM) is central to the way I support personal development. You can read more about NARM [here].
What are sessions like? On a basic level, they are a conversation between two humans. We’ll use reflective dialogue, somatic awareness, inquiry, and gentle attention to the deeper patterns and truths emerging in your life - and tune in to what you are curious about and wanting for yourself.
Session Details
Sessions are 55–60 minutes long and held over zoom. My current rate is $200/session.
Next Steps
If you are interested in experiencing this kind of support, please be in touch. We’ll start with scheduling an initial consultation over zoom or telephone (15-30 minutes). This is a time simply to connect and ask any questions you might have. We’ll also chat a little about whether this type of support (versus traditional therapy or another type of support) seems like a good fit.
After the consultation, I offer a no-charge initial session. I do this with awareness of the investment that personal/professional development work is, and a desire to help provide a real sense of what the work looks and feels like.
I’m also available for consultation with church leadership teams around leader well-being, mental health, trauma, and religious trauma awareness. Please reach out if you’re interested — I’d love to chat with you.
