Supporting Wellbeing in Spiritual Leaders
I provide one-to-one support for pastors and other spiritual leaders.
Spiritual leadership carries unique psychological and emotional burdens. This is an intentional relational container designed to support leaders in navigating their unique human journeys, including space to be with the inherently difficult challenges that being a leader can bring.
Sessions are depth-oriented and nurture self-reflection, self-awareness, and greater connection to a felt sense of agency in your life.
Together, we work with whatever you want to work with. That could include grief, burnout, spiritual questions, identity shifts. All of you is welcome.
I’m not affiliated with any religious denomination, but I come from a deeply religious background and understand the structures, joys, and challenges of church life. I’ve chosen to offer an intentionally neutral space, not rooted in any particular religious or theological stance, because I believe that that kind of neutrality, paired with skillful relational presence, best supports individual wellbeing, healing, growth, and transformation. My role is not to convince or direct, but to support your own self-led process. This often includes allowing space for paradox, doubt, and complexity — essential aspects of the human experience, but understandably difficult for us to reckon with. Our systems, families, and faith communities can reflect this difficulty at times. It feels vital to nurture our capacity to be with these, especially now. My years as a trauma therapist taught me the incredible value and healing power of the capacity to be present with complexity, doubt, paradox, and uncertainty — both within ourselves and in the world.
When people are related to from a skillful, genuine, compassionate but neutral space - without an agenda for them - they often discover authentic, generative aspects of themselves. For me, that’s the heart of the work, and a relational experience I’m passionate about providing for others.
I use the term integrative coaching to describe this kind of interpersonal support, and regard it as personal development work — a relational environment to support you in being present with yourself and your inner world. For leaders, like many who work in relational contexts, personal development *is* professional development. And so, this type of inner work often supports growth in other areas of life too, beyond one’s professional life - particularly in personal relationships and in one’s spiritual life.
Curiosity, non-judgment, and collaboration guide the process. It is trauma-informed, honors relationship to the sacred, and can deeply support meaningful change.
This type of one-to-one support may be a good fit if you:
Are interested in personal or professional development work from a depth perspective - i.e. “from the inside out”
Want to explore inner conflicts in a non-judgmental way
Have a desire to deepen your relationship with yourself
Are in need of a unbiased space to explore spiritual or existential questions
A Trauma-Informed Approach
I work from a trauma-informed perspective. While these sessions are not psychotherapy, my decade-plus of experience as a mental health clinician is part of the background I bring to the work.
My training and ongoing work in the NeuroAffective Relational Model (NARM) is central to how I approach personal development work. You can read more about NARM and my approach on the FAQs page.
What are sessions like? On a basic level, they are a conversation between two humans. Within that conversation, there’s exploratory dialogue, invitations for somatic (body-based and nervous system) awareness, support for self- reflection and curiosity, and shared attention to patterns of connection and disconnection.
Sessions are anchored and guided by your own questions. What are you curious about and wanting for yourself?
Session Details
Coaching sessions are 55–60 minutes long and held over zoom. My current rate is $200/session.
Next Steps
If you’re interested in experiencing this kind of support, please be in touch. We’ll start with scheduling an initial consultation over zoom or telephone (15-30 minutes). This is a time simply to connect and ask any questions you have. We’ll also chat a little about whether this type of support — versus traditional therapy or another type of support — seems like a good fit for you.
After the consultation, I offer a no-charge initial session. I offer this with awareness of the investment that personal/professional development work is, and a desire to help provide a real sense of what working together looks and feels like.
I’m also available for consultation with church leadership teams around leader well-being, mental health, trauma, and religious trauma awareness. Please reach out if you’re interested. I’d love to chat with you.
